Position Overview

Click Global Talent is recruiting for an experienced ETL Engineer (Lead) to support a critical Data Warehouse migration project. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this hybrid role requires a hands-on leader to guide a small technical team while actively designing, building, and executing robust data pipelines. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring high data accuracy, optimal performance, and the seamless delivery of the overall migration phase. This is a full-time, Project-Based Migration role.

Position Objective

To successfully lead and execute the migration of a legacy Data Warehouse environment to modern target data platforms, ensuring data integrity, performance, and operational efficiency throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of 3 ETL engineers, ensuring project milestones, task delivery, and code quality are met.

  • Pipeline Design & Optimization: Design, build, and optimize end-to-end ETL pipelines (extract, transform, load) to support seamless data flow.

  • Data Migration Execution: Direct and execute complex, large-scale data migration activities from legacy Netezza environments to modern target data platforms.

  • Logic & Stored Procedures: Develop, optimize, and maintain complex stored procedures, data processing logic, and automated ETL workflows.

  • Performance Tuning & Monitoring: Continuously monitor job executions, troubleshoot system bottlenecks, and perform SQL/query performance tuning.

  • Data Validation & Quality: Implement automated data validation routines and actively support data reconciliation activities across systems. Partner closely with QA leads.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with business stakeholders, QA leads, and infrastructure teams to resolve integration challenges.

  • Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, data mapping specifications, and operational runbooks.

Requirements & qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of experience working as a Data Engineer or ETL Engineer, including proven experience leading a small technical team.
  • Migration Expertise: Demonstrated Hands-on experience participating in large-scale Data Warehouse migration projects.
  • Database Proficiency: Strong expertise with relational and analytical databases, specifically Netezza, Oracle, and MS SQL Server.
  • ETL & Data Tools: Hands-on experience with enterprise ETL platforms such as Talend, Apache NiFi, or equivalent tools.
  • Programming & Scripting: High proficiency in SQL, Python, and shell/scripting languages, alongside basic Linux/Unix CLI command knowledge.
  • Big Data & Data Lake: Working familiarity with Data Lake and Data Warehouse concepts, including exposure to the Hadoop / Cloudera ecosystem.
  • Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid role based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, requiring an On-site presence as needed for Project-Based work.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Background in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Prior experience delivering results within vendor or fast-paced project-based consulting environments.
  • Exposure to the Huawei tech stack (e.g., GaussDB, MRS).
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Qlik.
